I’ve been playing percussion for years (though I’m an absolute amateur) and more than anything I love playing on wooden drums. This includes everything from Cajons to tables. A company called Fat Conga makes a beautiful wooden drum with a tone like a Conga. I decided to make my own version. One of the critical components is the wood used for the head: it should be aircraft grade plywood. The result was better than expected (though neither the sound quality nor playing quality do it justice).
